                            Tales of the Fall of the Roman Empire  

The Roman Empire fell in 509 BC. This downfall was brought about by the arrogant behavior of Sextus, son of Tarquinius, the last king of Rome. Sextus rapes Lacretia, his relative's wife. The incident made Sextus commit suicide in disgrace. Simultaneously with these events, occurred in the territory of the Roman empire. Eventually Tarquinius was dethroned and Rome became a republic.
